Oh God

I realized that I will shine like a poem

I will defeat pain

Poetry" Is an innocent lie can charm time.

Do not believe in me
The stars told me that I am fading away
And the soulful autumn will take me softly from the children's delight.

Do not believe in me

My sweet Memories aren't due for this exhausted land
Nor, that depressed history in my heart.

Do not believe in me
Cuz, I am still under the Apple tree
Bury my voice
Then create a flower
That doesn't Want to be alive.

Everything says how you may die
Why do you keep singing your name
You need not to wear that pure voice
Or A fragrant hat
No need to hum with a voice that is not yours
With A fake throat
you  need not to burn your dreams
Or smoke a large opium cigarette
Just throw me away
While I’m clinging to your bored perfume
And keep standing against the sky
Whenever it ignores you
Just say "Damn"
And the rainbow will collapse
Then, you wouldn’t die alone
Or so you believe:
That only two of you can be quiet:
The poet
Who has left his morning, lonely, dawn to rust
And the philosopher.
Who has broken the chessboard
Then sank in divine music
So did the birds say
Before the world could wake up

Maysoon al-Eryani, a young female poet, moved confidently through the Yemen’s literary scene, becoming one of the most famous young poets. Last year, her first divan, “I’ll penetrate the sky by lovers,” was published – gaining positive reviews from a lot of critics.  
Yemen Observer (Y.O): When did you start poetry writing?
 
Maysoon al-Eryani (M.E): I am still in my beginning. Yet, let me talk about the start of my passion with poetry. I began at an early age writing and it was not poetry as it was more like just thoughts and short stories. Later, I turned to poetry.
 
Y.O: Last year, the most famous published collections of poetry were written by female poets, Mrs. Huda Ablan, Mrs. Lamia al- Eryani and you. Where is the role of men in Yemeni poetry?
 
M.E: I believe that the man’s role is completely contiguous with the role of women in the creative process, or at least that’s what we seek. Actually, there are many young men who have issued their poems such as Hassan Sharaf al-Din and other colleges, but the media didn’t give them the same space that we took or maybe they themselves did not pay attention to activate their media’s image.
 
Y.O: Do you think that there is encouragement for young poets?
 
M.E: There is a dearth of what cultural institutions are offering to the young artist in general. I hope that their plans for New Year’s carries out greater attention and support to this important group of all mankind, which will contributes to the progress and development in Yemen.
 
Y.O: Do you believe that the Yemeni people could be interests in such literary productions?
 
M.E: Usually, there is a specific category, a category of intellectuals who are really interested in some extent in acquisition of such versions. Yet, recently we see a kind of awakening, especially among the youth, including the desire to read and to know.
 
Y.O: How was the public reaction towards your divan?
 
M.E: Thanks to God. The reaction is amazing so far; I received a lot of encouragement, more than what I could of imagined.
 
Y.O: What is the message that you wanted to send to the average reader through the divan?
 
M.E: There are several indirect messages. One of the messages is to show the charm of the Arabic language; it deserves to be heard more. I also wanted to prove that Arabic poetry will never be a heavy burden on communities.
 
Y.O: What is the divan you like the most from last year and why?
 
M.E: “Jenyat Shoman” by the Saudi poet Zaki al-Sadair. I liked his language, structures and themes. His creative work reflects a delicate sense of the word, and I would advise everyone to have a copy from it.
 
Y.O: What are your future plans?
 
M.E: To finish my university education successfully, to write in a way more beautiful and to preserve the people’s confidence.
 
Y.O: Finally, what is your wish for the year 2010?
 
M.E: To live in peace in a country that loves us as we do
